Yaklom Crater Lake is one of the most spectacular of all the stunning Cambodia tourist attractions which are found in the province of Ratanakiri. If you want relaxation amidst stunning natural scenery, there's not much more you could ask for than the Yaklom Crater Lake. Similar to Lake Toba in Indonesia, although not quite of the same magnitude, the lake is formed within a volcanic crater. The lake is 800 meters in diameter and the water is crystal clear throughout. It has depth of at least 40 meters also, and although slightly chilly, the beauty of it means you will not be able to keep yourself out of the water for long. Strong swimmers will be able to get from one side to the other. What's more, the lake is surrounded by deep Ratanakiri jungle so you can combine a visit here with some trekking...that is of course if you don't get here and want to stay for a few days longer than you'd planned.
The atmosphere of this lake is extremely peaceful, sunsets here shine across the shimmering water, and each morning you will wake up to the sounds of the jungle waking up with you - the surrounding nature and hill tribes of the region make this lake's setting that little more special.
How much does it cost?
A visit to the lake itself does not include an entrance fee, however some of the surrounding attractions on the lake's periphery will incur small charges around US 1, for example the tribal cemetaries.
