"Life is a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable."

Arrive at your chosen hotel
A tough beginning to the day, with visits to the Choeung Ek Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng (S21) Prison, where only 7 survived from 1000s incarcerated. You will make more sense of modern Cambodia with a familiarity of the events of the late 1970s and how the country continues to recover from this tragedy.
We continue with Royal Place built in 1866 by King Norodom and the Silver Pagoda located within the Royal Palace compound, named due to the floor being composed of over 5,000 silver tiles. We then head to the National Museum which houses the world's best collection of Khmer art, especially sculpture, and can choose to explore the shops and boutiques in the Street 178 area, or move on to climb the small hill within the city to see Wat Phnom and learn how the city got its name.
An early start today to leave for Mondulkiri, crossing Kompong Cham province, a great place to try some real wild food: crickets, beetles and grasshoppers. On arrival in Mondulkiri, we go to Dokramom Mountain in the late afternoon to learn the history of the Phnong people and see the sunset from on high.
Adventure awaits in the form of a trek through the jungles of Mondulkiri on elephant back. This method of travel gives you a closer interaction with the landscape, as you cross forest and rivers. In the evening, you can take part in traditional dancing.
Explore the forests around Sen Monorom, swim in the waterfall pools at Bousra, and meet another Cambodian minority group, to understand the range of cultures in Cambodia's border regions. In the afternoon, depart to Kratie, where we can take a boat to see the rare Irrawaddy dolphins at dusk, and watch the sun set over the Mekong river.
We will stop en route to visit Wat Nokor, continue to the ancient carving villages and the large markets of Kompong Thom. From Kampong Thom, we drive toward Sambor Prei Kuk to visit the ruins of the 6th century temples, and then on to Siem Reap.
Start the day with an elephant ride from the south gate of Angkor Thom to the beautiful temple of Bayon. We continue to explore the city of Angkor Thom, visiting the Terrace of the Leper King and Elephant Terrace, the temple mountain of Phimeanakas, Baphuon and atmospheric Preah Palilay.
After lunch, we return to the photogenic temple ruins of Ta Prohm, before moving back to the magnificent Angkor Wat itself, and relaxing at a beautiful spot nearby to enjoy the sunset there.
We leave Siem Reap for a day at the sacred mountain, Phnom Kulen, cradle of the Angkorian civilzation. We start by exploring the reclining buddha, linga river and waterfalls before having a local lunch. We then take a moto up the rough road (18km) to the top of the mountain to see Srah Damrei, or Elephant Pond, surounded by a life-sized stone elephant, and other stone snaimal statues. This is a beautiful and serene place, with some fantastic views.
An early start today, as we take a breakfast on the boat to Prek Toal bird sanctuary, and travel across the lake to see some of the rare and endangered bird species there, including the Adjutant and Painted Storks. Serious birders may be interested in arranging a separate visit to the Ang Trapang Thmor Sarus Crane reserve, or staying overnight at Prek Toal.
Another early start, with a long drive to Koh Ker. This large temple complex is 2-3 hours away by car - the visitors who come are rewarded by the huge temple mountain of Prasat Thom, surrounded by many smaller sites newly cleared from the jungle, including the linga temples Prasat Thneng and Prasat Leung, and Prasat Damrei, the Elephant Temple.
After a local lunch, we eventually begin the drive back, via the gorgeously overgrown Beng Mealea. Stairs and walkways have been installed to enable access, but the adventurous can explore much further through this large temple.
