"I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing where I'm going is what inspires me to travel it."

The most common advice we give our guests, young and old alike is to "slow down". All too often overbusy holidays can turn into a trial to get through rather than a life enhancing experience of foreign cultures. There is so much to see in Cambodia and it is a mistake to try to see everything; to rush around and leave no time for simply sitting on a temple stone or at a cafe and watching the world pass by.
Cambodia is a now peaceful Buddhist nation rich in culture which rewards a slower form of travel. Unlike travel to some parts of Southeast Asia there is little risk of personal safety in Siem Reap.
Banteay Samre - lone traveler with guide
A question we are constantly asked: "Is Cambodia safe?". We would ask if your home town is safe? While Cambodia can't forget its recent history, the fact is that Khmers are a very welcoming and generous (Buddhist) people, and if you spend the time to explore rural Cambodia (in particular), some of the poorest people in Asia will not hesitate to share food and drink with you. Some areas of Phnom Penh are not safe at night, as with all large cities, but a lone traveler can generally walk around Siem Reap with no fear - except of being offered rides by moto or tuk-tuk! Of course, if you feel happier with a female guide, then please let us know.
Women travelers - postcard sellers
We understand that architecture and history is not everything to everybody. And while Sihanoukville and the towns of the coast may offer some obvious alternative attractions, what does Siem Reap and Phnom Penh offer? There are some truely first class spas and treatments available, and ABOUTAsia has negotiated some very attractive rates with several spas, and can arrange combination packages, or simply make recommendations when you are here.
While Cambodia is not the retail center that some Asian countries are, Cambodian silk used to have a worldwide reputation, and is now undergoing a renaissance - we can take you to see all aspects of silk prodcution, or just take you to the markets!
