Can I rent a car or a motorbike?
Renting a vehicle in Cambodia depends on the region you are in. It is possible to rent cars / motorbikes in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville, but in Siem Reap motorbike rental is prohibited. However, driving in Cambodia is not easy business. The traffic laws and driver education are nearly non-existent. You will have to share the roads with people, motorbikes, cows, chickens, dogs and road conditions can be poor in some areas. Driving in Siem Reap is dangerous, and Phnom Penh more so with 14 motorbike accidents per day, so please give serious thought before renting a vehicle.
You will need a driving licence to drive in Cambodia, although an international driving licence is not usually requested. Also, please note that for motorbikes wearing a helment is requested by law.
