Away from the main tourist centres of Siem Reap, Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh luxury hotels are thin on the ground. There are some lovely little gems in various towns around the country however. La Villa in Battambang, Knai Bang Chatt in Kep, and Terres Rouges in Banlung are smaller properties (meaning advanced booking can be necessary), but offer an intimate feel with comfort and personal service. Elsewhere homestays and guesthouses are much more the norm and offer basic levels of service and accommodation.
