Victoria Angkor Resort is part of the French owned Victoria group popular in neighbouring Vietnam, and their Siem Reap branch lives up to expectations of being a truly elegant 5* hotel. The 1930's style of architecture provides an air of graceful tranquility.
The hotel is located in the heart of Siem Reap town, but tucked just behind the busy town center in a relaxed location overlooking the Royal Park.
The hotel has 120 rooms and 10 suites. We use the ground floor Superior rooms as our standard option (the Deluxe rooms are identical, but on the higher floors).
The best room available in the Victoria is the Victoria Plantation Suite, where you can make the most of a lavish king size bed and views over the hotel's pool and gardens - all of the Victoria's suites are individually styled, and the same price, so this is just personal taste (and location - it is the only 1st floor poolside suite).
The hotel has a saltwater pool and children's pool. Within the hotel are also a souvenir shop, luxurious spa, kids club, babysitting service, postal service and free wi-fi. It's an excellent choice for families.
It has to be the three vintage Citroën limousines which can be hired for tours of the city or simply to pick you up from the airport, ideal for a celebration.
"We stayed at the Victoria for 5 nights in late May. They picked us up at the unique airport in a crazy fabulous old 1920-something car. We highly recommend choosing that option instead of the drab van for your pick-up. It sets the right tone for such a magestic and remarkable place. It's a short drive to the hotel from the airport. Upon arrival the first thing you notice is the open concept of the hotel. You'd think that given the heat that it would be annoying but somehow it's cool and relaxed and we were immediately at home.
