As for travel to any country, we recommend purchasing travel insurance in your country of origin for security. Banking and financial institutions are still relatively undeveloped in Cambodia, and finding insurance in the country is essentially impossible. You must purchase comprehensive medical insurance that includes cover for medical evacuation in the unlikely event of serious illness or accident. There are several high quality children's hospitals (supported by foreign donation) in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, but top quality medical care is limited, and expensive. If anything serious happens, medical evacuation to Bangkok is recommended (the Bumrungrad hospital there is excellent).
Travel insurance is recommended when travelling to Cambodia
