Au Cabaret Vert opened in 2010, and this Franco-Khmer owned and run has a unique character, with its naturally filtered pool and intimate character.
Please note, the hotel pool ecosystem is still establishing, and may not always be completely clear (although perfectly safe to swim in).
The hotel is set a little way from the city center, towards the main tourist attractions, giving it a real "away from it all" feel. A tuk-tuk (or use of the properties electric bikes) is recommended to go into the town, although given the standard of the restaurant most visitors choose not to leave.
The hotel has 6 bungalows, all purpose built from local materials, one of which is fully wheelchair-adapted bun. The bungalows are spacious, with modern bathrooms
All the bungalows are identical.
The hotel has a natural pool (no chlorine) and a very good restaurant, electric bicycle rent, free internet/wifi.
Au Cabaret Vert in Battambang
The highlight of this guesthouse is its restaurant. A simple selection of Khmer and international dishes, including the best Amok we have sampled in Cambodia - and an interesting, reasonably-priced wine list to accompany. Eat here even if you are staying elsewhere in Battambang!
"We loved staying here! It was a little out of town, but it was an ok walk. The bungalows are really gorgeous, and the pool lovely being salt water. I liked the whole eco feel and ethos to the hotel. The hotel owners are really friendly and helpful while being very laid back which was nice. The restaurant was worth a try - in fact, I had the best fish amok in all my time in Cambodia there! Don't be put off by all the French on the website (if you're not French, it almost did me), but it was a really wonderful experience."
