Bambu is a 2010 addition to the Battambang hotel scene, and we feel that this English-Khmer owned and run boutique resort is a lovely little property, tastefully designed and decorated, with a restaurant serving very good food at reasonable prices. We feel Bambu may soon be the accommodation of choice in Battambang.
Please note, that the hotel is close to a pagoda, and at festivals there will be noise early in the morning.
The hotel is set on the edge of the city center, close to the riverside, about 300m from its better known, and well established, rival - la Villa. It is within easy walking distance of the city, although manages to maintain an "out of town" feel.
The hotel has 16 rooms, all decorated with a mix of new and reclaimed materials (stone, tile and wood), and well-fitted out with modern fittings. Expect lots of dark wood in the bedrooms, with stylish en suite bathrooms, and a balcony or terrace.
The best rooms available are the suite rooms, with views over the pool area, where it is possible to relax in your own hammock on the balcony.
The hotel has a pool and a very good restaurant, room service, free internet/wifi.
Bambu in Battambang
The highlight of this guesthouse is its successful of colonial and modern architectural style, and lovely ambience. Sit back with one of the excellent cocktails, and enjoy the surroundings at the end of your day's touring.
"I had a room in the main building overlooking the road. I'd recommend this as the balcony has huge hammocks and the room is large and comfortable (best sheets in Cambodia!). Excellent food from a varied menu, chef even came out and played his guitar after cooking my meal.."
