Vihear Prampil Loveng is a picturesque small terrace which is located in the forest of Angkor Thom in a delightful spot away from the crowds and surrounded by smaller temples not ususally discovered by most people exploring the

Angkor Temples. It was built under Jayavarman VII at the same time as the Bayon, but Jayavarman VIII during his reign converted the city to Hinduism and thus cast out most buddhist influences. There was actually a statue of the Buddha which was found in 1933 at the bottom of a well, which was discovered to be from the terrace, and restoration experts managed to piece the statue back together in its entirety, and it has now been placed back in its original spot in Vihear Prampil Loveng.

Distance from Siem Reap to Vihear Prampil Loveng is approx 16km (approx 15 minutess by car, 20-25 by tuk-tuk, or close to an hour by bicycle). Take Charles de Gaulle Road to

Angkor Wat and continue past the entrance on your right and continue north toward Angkor Thom. Once inside turn right toward Victory Gate and behind the small Chapel of Suor Prat you will find Vihear Prampil Loveng.
