Tonle Sap Lake - seasonal water levels
Tonle Sap lake levels rise from June, once the wet season is established - the Tonle Sap river flows into the lake during this season as the Mekong swells with rain and meltwater. Peaking in October, with an area approaching 16,000 square kilometers, the levels drop through the dry season, draining back into the Mekong, until the area is below 3,000 sq km. Our maps section includes a map showing the seasonal variations of the Tonle Sap lake.
